Impact McCullar was sidelined for the fourth time in seven games Saturday due to a bone bruise on his knee, and Self suggested that the fifth-year senior forward is week-to-week after aggravating the injury in Kansas' Feb. 17 win over Oklahoma. Given that McCullar was unable to participate in any basketball-related activities leading up to the game against Texas, he can safely be ruled out for Tuesday's matchup with BYU, and quite possibly, additional games to follow.

The Big 12 is a gauntlet this season with star players up and down the conference, but McCullar has as solid a claim as any, including teammate Hunter Dickinson, as being the best and most consistent player in conference this season. McCullar ranks first in the conference in points (20.0), sixth in assists (4.7), 11th in rebounds (6.4) and is tied for 16th in steals (1.4).

However, McCullar has arguably been their most consistent player all season and he was clearly the best Jayhawk on the court Wednesday, leading the team in scoring while posting five assists and six boards. The Big 12 is as deep this season as it has ever been and while Kansas is competing at the top, one concern is their relative lack of depth. McCullar has averaged 34.5 minutes per contest, a number that creeps up to 36.9 in games decided by less than 10 points. A concern moving forward could be Kansas wearing out its star players if that trend continues.

Impact Yale kept the game competitive for much longer than anticipated, holding a lead into the second half. This opened the door for McCullar to have a career night by putting up his first career 30-plus point effort. Following Yale's last lead, Kansas went on a 23-5 run in which McCullar scored 12 points to help slam the door on Yale's upset bid. It was a traditional all-around effort for McCullar who had his fourth straight with at least six rebounds, four assists and two steals. The 6'7" wing also matched a season high with four threes as he upped his average to 20.4 points to go along with 6.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 34.4 minutes per game.

With averages of 19.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.7 blocks per game, McCullar is one of the best all-around players in college basketball this season.
