Stieber's late 3-pointer rallies Gardner-Webb past Winthrop 65-64
ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Lucas Stieber sank a 3-pointer with two seconds remaining to rally Gardner-Webb to a 65-64 victory over Winthrop on Saturday.
Julien Soumaoro made three 3-pointers and scored 13 to lead the Runnin' Bulldogs (16-15, 11-5 Big South Conference). Caleb Robinson and Isaiah Richards added 11 points apiece. Robinson grabbed seven rebounds. Stieber scored six on 2-for-5 shooting from 3-point range.
Michael Anumba paced the Eagles (17-14, 8-8) with 16 points and six rebounds. Kelton Talford added 15 points and eight rebounds, while Kasen Harrison scored 10. Anumba made two foul shots with 52 seconds left to put Winthrop up by two before Stieber hit the game winner.
