Stieber scores 20 as Gardner-Webb downs Longwood 72-69
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (AP) — Lucas Stieber scored 20 points as Gardner-Webb beat Longwood 72-69 on Thursday night.
Stieber shot 7 for 9, including 5 for 7 from beyond the arc for the Runnin' Bulldogs (15-15, 10-5 Big South Conference). DQ Nicholas added 12 points while shooting 3 for 10 (3 for 5 from 3-point range) and 3 of 3 from the free throw line, and he also had six assists. Julien Soumaoro had 12 points and shot 5 for 12, including 2 for 5 from beyond the arc.
Walyn Napper finished with 14 points and four assists for the Lancers (17-13, 5-10). Emanuel Richards added 13 points for Longwood. Elijah Tucker also recorded 11 points and nine rebounds.
Both teams next play Saturday. Gardner-Webb visits Winthrop and Longwoodplays High Point at home.
