Kalakon scores 16, Western Illinois takes down Southeast Missouri State 68-61
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — JJ Kalakon's 16 points helped Western Illinois defeat Southeast Missouri State 68-61 on Thursday night.
Kalakon added eight rebounds for the Leathernecks (9-6, 2-0 Ohio Valley Conference). Ryan Myers scored 16 points, going 6 of 14 (2 for 4 from 3-point range). James Dent Jr. shot 2 of 7 from the field and 5 for 5 from the line to finish with nine points. It was the sixth win in a row for the Leathernecks.
The Redhawks (5-10, 1-2) were led by Josh Earley, who posted 18 points and two blocks. Rob Martin added 13 points for Southeast Missouri State. In addition, Aquan Smart finished with nine points.
Both teams play on Saturday. Western Illinois hosts Lindenwood and Southeast Missouri State hosts Bethel (TN).
