Kaiyem Cleary scores program-record 43 points as Le Moyne takes down LIU 87-74
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — Kaiyem Cleary scored a program-record 43 points and Le Moyne defeated Long Island 87-74 on Saturday.
Cleary was 14-of-25 shooting, including 6 of 10 from 3-point range to go with seven rebounds. Cleary broke program record with his 42nd point. Richard Kenyon set the previous record against St. Joseph’s in 1954-55, and it was tied by Philip Harlow against Clarkson in 1970-71.
Luke Sutherland added 16 points while shooting 8 for 17, including 0 for 6 from beyond the arc, and he also had five rebounds for the Dolphins (9-11, 4-2 Northeast Conference). Darrick Jones Jr. shot 5 for 9, including 2 for 6 from beyond the arc to finish with 12 points.
Tai Strickland led the way for the Sharks (4-15, 3-4) with 34 points and seven rebounds. Eric Acker added 16 points and four assists for LIU. Tana Kopa also had 13 points.
