Freidel's 28 lead James Madison past Texas State in Sun Belt Conference Tournament 73-68
PENSACOLA, Fla. (AP) — Noah Freidel had 28 points in James Madison's 73-68 win over Texas State on Sunday night in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
Second-seeded James Madison plays No. 4 seed Arkansas State in the championship game on Monday.
Freidel also contributed three blocks for the Dukes (30-3). Xavier Brown added 11 points while going 3 of 8 (3 for 5 from 3-point range) while they also had three steals. Terrence Edwards finished 4 of 11 from the field to finish with eight points, while adding six rebounds and six assists. The Dukes extended their winning streak to 10 games.
Brandon Love led the Bobcats (17-18) in scoring, finishing with 17 points and two steals. Dontae Horne added 15 points and four assists for Texas State. Davion Sykes also recorded 11 points.
James Madison went into the half ahead of Texas State 37-29. Brown put up nine points in the half. Freidel scored 20 points down the stretch in the second half to help lead James Madison to a five-point victory.
