Cardet and Chicago State knock off Valparaiso 63-62
VALPARAISO, Ind. (AP) — Wesley Cardet Jr. scored the game-winning layup with three seconds left and racked up 28 total points to lead Chicago State past Valparaiso 63-62 on Saturday night.
Cardet added six rebounds for the Cougars (5-9). Jahsean Corbett scored 14 points while shooting 4 of 8 from the field and 6 for 6 from the line, and added eight rebounds. Cameron Jernigan finished 3 of 4 from the field to finish with seven points.
The Beacons (4-7) were led by Jahari Williamson, who recorded 20 points. Valparaiso also got nine points and two steals from Isaiah Stafford. Jaxon Edwards also had seven points and nine rebounds.
Chicago State's next game is Monday against UT Rio Grande Valley at home, and Valparaiso hosts Samford on Tuesday.
