Appel's 19 lead South Dakota State past Kansas City 75-66
BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — Luke Appel had 19 points in South Dakota State's 75-66 victory over Kansas City on Thursday night.
Appel was 9 of 18 shooting and 1 of 4 from the free throw line for the Jackrabbits (12-9, 5-1 Summit League). Matthew Mims scored 15 points and added five rebounds. William Kyle III shot 6 of 8 from the field to finish with 13 points, while adding seven rebounds and three blocks.
The Roos (8-13, 2-4) were led by Jamar Brown, who recorded 17 points. Cameron Faas added 11 points for Kansas City. In addition, Khristion Courseault had 10 points and two steals.
South Dakota State took the lead with 16:53 left in the first half and did not give it up. Mims led his team in scoring with 11 points in the first half to help put them ahead 36-26 at the break. Appel led the way with a team-high 10 second-half points.
