Heading to Seattle at No. 2 overall Malonga was selected by the Storm with the second overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft on Monday, HerHoopStats.com reports. Impact At just 19 years old, Malonga has already had plenty of success overseas, and she was part of the French national team that nearly took down the United States in the gold medal game during last year's Olympics. She played for French club Lyon in the BWL this season, averaging 15.4 points and 10.3 rebounds in 29.6 minutes per game over 22 appearances. Malonga is dominant around the rim and is also a decent perimeter threat, shooting 28.9 percent from three-point range this year. She'll join a Seattle frontcourt that includes Nneka Ogwumike, Ezi Magbegor and Gabby Williams, but Malonga has the size and athleticism to be a contributor in the WNBA early in her career, especially if she can continue to develop her strength and shooting efficiency. Malonga may head overseas at some point this summer to compete for France in EuroBasket, but she intends to play mainly in the WNBA this year and won't be subject to the league's prioritization rules, so she should see plenty of action for the Storm.
