Impact Jourdian followed his script to a tee, setting an incredibly high pace and daring Phillips to keep up. While Phillips never stopped firing back, it's difficult to win a decision on the back foot, particularly when your opponent is landing big shots. For as good as he looked overall, Jourdain spent the majority of Round 1 on his back, unable to deal with the wrestling of Phillips. He has sharpened his submission game as an answer to those who want to take him down, but "Air" will need to stay on his feet if he wants to build upon his three-fight win streak. Jourdain moved to 18-8-1 in professional MMA due to the victory.

Statement win over Davey Grant Jourdain defeated Davey Grant via submission (guillotine choke) at 3:05 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Vancouver.

Impact Grant is known as one of the toughest and most serviceable guys around and Jourdain ran through him like he wasn't even there. Charles blasted Grant with a knee which forced his opponent to the mat and allowed him to eventually clamp on the guillotine choke which ended the fight. It was a flawless sequence from Jourdain on multiple fronts. Set to turn 30 years of age in late November, Charles has way more ability than his 4-4 record in his last eight fights would lead you to believe. It's all about consistency. Don't count the Canadian out just yet.
