Week 5 Awards: Bills win is a dream come true for Jim Schwartz (VIDEO)

Published Oct. 5, 2014 5:49 p.m. ET

Now that we're in October, it's time for the NFL to turn spooky.

Scary hits, spooky finishes and seriously frightening comedy went down in Week 5 of the regular season. So, let's not waste time chatting. It's time to hand out some hardware, so let's get to work.

1. First Annual Carried Away Award: Jim Schwartz, Bills

Once upon a time, Mr. Schwartz was the head coach of the Detroit Lions before he got fired after the 2013 season. But the story didn't there as Jim got a job in Buffalo as the team's new defensive coordinator. During OTAs, he told his players that his dream was to be carried off the field if the Bills beat the Lions in Detroit this season. Guess what happened on Sunday?

2. Creepy Smile of the Week: Jason Garrett, Cowboys

Do you think Dallas' head coach practices this in the mirror?

Those eyes ... kind of burn into your brain, right? Anyway, at least he has a reason to smile after the Cowboys beat the Texans in overtime.

3. Breast Cancer Awareness Fan of the Week: This Cowboys fan

There's wearing pink and there's letting the color completely devour you:

Bravo to this man. And I couldn't agree with his message more.

4. Tiki Barber Award for Poor Ball Security: LeSean McCoy, Eagles

5. Tim Gunn Award for Superior Swimwear: This Jaguars fan

Hey, sometimes a girl's gotta cool off. The Jaguars did their fan base a favor by installing pools in the upper deck, since the product on the field is awful. One lady decided the heat was too much to take on Sunday and jumped into the pool, jeans and all:

That's good improvisation.

6. OMG BEST CATCH EVER! Clickbait Award: Julio Jones, Falcons

Jones is really good at what he does, which is catching pass and smoking fools on the outside. On Sunday, he snatched a Matt Ryan pass out of the air using just one flipper:

That's a sick grab.

7. Super Dave Award for Cheating Death: Tony Romo, Cowboys

Tony Romo should have been brought down by Texans defensive end JJ Watt on this play, but he somehow got out of it and then threw a strike to the end zone for a touchdown.

One in a million chance.

8. Troy Aikman Award for Excellence in Analysis: Lauren Renschler's Mom

Lauren, PR person extraordinaire, was watching some football with her parental unit on Sunday, when they both saw Romo escape from Watt's grasp. That's when Mom said this:

Good point! Hey, JJ, maybe you shouldn't swear off girlfriends until after your career ends, eh?

9. Adrian Dantley Award for Not Dunking: Golden Tate, Lions

Detroit's receiver really thought about slamming the ball home between the uprights after scoring a touchdown on Sunday, but then thought the better of it.

Good decision to avoid the dunk. As NFL writer/editor Ross Jones would say, "That's a fine!"

10. Turn Down for What Award: Brian Hoyer, Browns

What a day for Cleveland. After being down 25 points, the Browns roared back and beat the Titans on the road. Their locker room was obviously joyous afterwards, as the players circled up and did some happy dances. That included QB Brian Hoyer, who busted out some moves (WARNING: Strong language. Earmuffs required!)

11. OOOF! Award for Week 5: Geno Smith, Jets

The Jets took their subpar record on the road in Week 5 for a rough test against the Chargers. This game wasn't close from the get-go as the Bolts shocked the Jets with all kinds of hard hits, including this one that knocked Smith's bonnet off his head:

How bad does your head ring after something like that? Ouch.

12. Worth the Wait Award: Odell Beckham Jr., Giants

Big Blue spent a first-round pick on the big wide receiver out of LSU in May's NFL Draft. However, the rookie had yet to take the field in a game for the Giants due to various injuries. On Sunday, ODB got on the field and did this:

Touchdown! Welcome to the bigs, rook.

13. WOOOOO! Award for Week 5: Travis Kelce, Chiefs

The big tight end has been quite the find for Kansas City as his natural ability and penchant for touchdown dances have been a hit. On Sunday, Kelce reached paydirt and and channeled Ric Flair with this dance move:

Once again: WOOOOOOOOOO!!!

14. Mean Dig Award of the Week: Colts T-Shirt

I love a good joke as much as anyone, but this seems uncool:

Bad enough the Colts beat the Ravens, but there's no need for another dig at Baltimore in the process. (OK, it's pretty funny.)

15. Pat McAfee Award for Saying Awesome Things: Pat McAfee, Colts

Speaking of that Colts win, nobody was more integral to that victory than star quarterback Andrew Luck, and Indy's punter was definitely going to say what needed to be said:

Yup, agreed. This Andrew Luck fellow might just make it in this league.

16. Beer Bath of the Week Award: Demaryius Thomas, Broncos

The big wide receiver scored on Sunday and leaped into the end zone crowd to celebrate. Of course, the people there weren't going to let go of their beverages:

Ahhh, nothing like the smell of sweat, grass stains and beer all mixed together into a melange. What a delight for the nostrils.

17. Ron Artest Award for Throwing Elbows: Leodis McKelvin, Bills

The cornerback was a little emotional after making a big play against the Lions, but he wound up catching an assistant coach:

Friendly fire!

18. Play Until the Whistle Award for a Man Named After a City: Philly Brown, Panthers

No sure what the hell happened on this play, but it counted. Brown picked up the loose ball after getting drilled while trying to field a punt, then took it the house for a touchdown.

Let that a lesson, kids: Don't stop until you hear the whistle!

19. Rich Little Award for Impersonating a Celebrity: Danny Lansanah, Buccaneers

The linebacker has had an eventful couple weeks. First, he stopped Antonio Brown's first-down celebration last week, now he's coming up with a pick-six against the Saints:

Did you notice his LeBron James salutation with the celebration? I'm sure you did.

20. Sad Eli Manning Face Award for Week 5: Eli Manning, Giants

Cheer up, Eli! The Giants won!
