SMU coach turns chaffeur for students
Every college student who's had to write a tuition check dreams of getting a free ride. SMU football coach Chad Morris did just that for some lucky students the other day.
Of course, the ride Morris offered was merely transportation, not financial aid. Morris served as a personal Uber for a few students, saving them a walk across campus and allowing him a chance to promote the football program.
So far, that hasn't been a problem as a capacity crowd attended last weekend's season opener against Baylor. The crowd included a large student turnout to see the Mustangs give Baylor a game in the first half before falling, 56-21.
This week, it's the University of North Texas that comes to Ford Stadium for a 6 p.m. Saturday kickoff.
And if there comes a point this season when the team needs a lift from the student section, Morris can say rightfully say he gave them one first.
