Silver lining: Chubb ties UGA record with 13th straight 100-yard game

Very little went right for No. 8 Georgia against Alabama. It was a lopsided affair that went downhill in a hurry for the Bulldogs.

If there is one positive to take away from the 38-10 loss, it's that star sophomore running back Nick Chubb still refuses to be shut down. Chubb tied former Heisman winner Herschel Walker's school record by hitting the 100-yard mark for the 13th consecutive game with a strong second half-effort against the Crimson Tide. After being held to 39 rushing yards in the first half, Chubb finished with 146 yards and a touchdown.

(There are conflicting reports on whether Chubb broke or tied Walker's mark, but the school puts the record mark at 13. We'll stick with that.)

Chubb's record streak started last season at Missouri following former starter Todd Gurley's suspension. In his first start, he rattled off 143 yards against Mizzou and he hasn't looked back since.

Over the 13-game span, Chubb has totaled 2,068 yards and 19 touchdowns.

Walker, the 1982 Heisman winner that led the Bulldogs to three straight SEC titles and the 1980 national championship, was in attendance at Sanford Stadium on Saturday to serve as the team's honorary captain.

The record will offer little consolation to Chubb & Co. in the aftermath of this loss, but at least it further cements the sophomore as one of the top backs in the school's illustrious history.
