Rodgers listed as probable, Packers won't change offensive approach

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Aaron Rodgers put all doubt to rest earlier in the week when saying he'd play Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC divisional-round matchup. Now, the Green Bay Packers have officially listed Rodgers as probable for the game.
"Aaron Rodgers came through the (Thursday) practice with everything OK," head coach Mike McCarthy said Friday. "Feels good today."
The Packers don't practice Fridays but will have their standard Saturday practice.
"He's progressing forward and I feel he will be available for the game," McCarthy said.
Rodgers did not practice Wednesday, but he was a limited participant Thursday. In Thursday's practice, McCarthy estimated that Rodgers took about 50-60 percent of the team-period snaps.
At kickoff time Sunday, Rodgers will be two weeks removed from having suffered the second of two injuries to his left calf. The first injury came Week 16 in Tampa Bay. A week later, Rodgers collapsed to the ground untouched after stepping up in the pocket and throwing a touchdown pass. A different spot on the same calf had given out on him.
When Rodgers said Wednesday that he'll play in the game but "it's just a matter of how," it led many to wonder how limited his mobility would be. For a quarterback who so often has success in extending plays, having to sit in the pocket could change the Cowboys' defensive plan for Rodgers significantly.
"I think the fact he went through the opportunity in Tampa (and) Detroit where he had to play through the situation, where he had to be smart in the pocket," McCarthy said. "He has that experience. It's been talked about. We have a game plan.
"He looks like he's moving fine to me right now. We're not going to change anything or our approach of how we want to attack Dallas' defense."
The rest of Green Bay's injury report looks fairly clean. Left guard Josh Sitton, cornerback Davon House and defensive lineman Josh Boyd are all probable. Safety Sean Richardson is questionable after suffering a knee injury in Wednesday's practice.
