Report: NASCAR fan has $20k worth of memorabilia stolen from house

For anyone who's ever spent their hard-earned money on NASCAR merchandise and collectibles, this one hurts.

According to the Opelika-Auburn News, the Lee County (Alabama) Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of more than $20,000 worth of NASCAR memorabilia from a Phenix City man's home:

The victim told law enforcement that among other things, a number of collectibles commemorating the NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt were taken, totaling over $20,000. (Police) said it wasn't specified whether it was Earnhardt Sr., who died during a race in 2001, or his son, Dale Earnhardt Jr.

The victim wasn't home at the time of the break-in. According to police, he was in the process of moving and discovered that his prized possessions were missing after returning to load up more stuff.

Moving is already an unpleasant process ... but to also have $20,000 worth of NASCAR merchandise stolen? Pretty much sounds like the worst day ever.
