Peyton Manning breaks Favre's career passing record

Published Nov. 15, 2015 5:39 p.m. ET

DENVER -- Peyton Manning broke Brett Favre's NFL record for most career passing yards Sunday but not before he was intercepted, sacked and fumbled in the opening minutes.

Manning entered the day with 71,836 yards through the air, 2 shy of Favre's record and tied with Favre with 186 victories.

Manning's 4-yard pass to running back Ronnie Hillman set the record.

Manning's first pass Sunday was underthrown and cornerback Marcus Peters intercepted it. His league-leading 14th interception helped put the Broncos in an early 7-0 hole.
