Packers fire tight ends, running backs coaches
The Green Bay Packers are already making changes following an overtime loss to the Arizona Cardinals in an NFC divisional playoff game on Saturday.
The team announced Tuesday that tight ends coach Jerry Fontenot and running backs coach Sam Gash will not return next season following an 11-7 season in which the Packers missed out on the NFC North championship for the first time since 2010.
Fontenot got his start with the Packers as a coaching assistant in 2006, and went on to work as an offensive assistant, running backs coach and assistant offensive line coach.
Gash joined the Packers in 2014, a year after the team drafted Alabama product Eddie Lacy, who revitalized the team's running game with back-to-back 1,00-yard seasons, before rushing for just 758 yards in 2015 amidst controversy over his physical fitness.
