Meyer on Tebow: 'I still don't get' how he's not in NFL

Another season of the NFL is right around-the-corner, and it looks as if Tim Tebow will once again not be on an NFL roster.

But, not due to lack of support from his former college coach, Urban Meyer.

According to NFL.com, during Big Ten Media Days Tuesday, Meyer said he still doesn't understand how Tebow doesn't have a spot in the NFL.

"I still don't get that part of it," Meyer said, "He's the second-most efficient passer ever to play college football."

Although that may be true, during Tebow's time in the NFL he proved to be an erratic passer completing only 47.9 percent of his passes.

Meyer knows that his two-time BCS national champion and Heisman Trophy winner isn't a traditional quarterback, but believes enough offenses have changed around the league and could use a quarterback like Tebow.

"He had really good personnel around him (at Florida) and we utilized his skill very well," Meyer said. "I think in a traditional setting, it is difficult, but there's a lot of non-traditional offenses now in the NFL."

Tebow's biggest obstacle may be the fact that although non-traditional quarterbacks are in style in the NFL, he may not be the most-athletic or fastest of those non-traditionals available.

Unless things change soon, Tebow will just continue to get ready for his broadcasting career as an analyst for the new SEC Network.
