Mets pitcher picks up a save on flight
New York Mets pitcher LaTroy Hawkins is used to converting saves on the baseball field.
Apparently Hawkins is also good at getting saves in the air too.
Hawkins posted a picture on Instagram of him and another man and said that the two of them had to subdue an unruly passenger on a flight from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to Santiago, Chile. Hawkins said the flight had to be diverted to Lima, Peru,] to get the passenger off the plane.
Hawkins said it was "long nite with a crazy passenger."
While American Airlines wouldn’t confirm which passengers on the flight assisted the flight attendants, a spokesman did confirm that a Sunday night flight from DFW did have to divert to Lima around 4 a.m. Monday morning because of an unruly passenger and that other passengers helped out.
The good news for Hawkins is that after about two hours in Lima, his flight did eventually make it to Chile around 11 a.m. Monday morning.
