Marlins acquire minor-league pitcher Chris Reed from Dodgers

The Miami Marlins acquired minor-league pitcher Chris Reed from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for left-hander Grant Dayton on Wednesday.
Reed, a former first-round pick in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft, is a right-handed reliever from London, England, who attended Stanford. He had been designated for assignment.
The 25-year-old righty is 11-33 with a 4.28 ERA in 103 games (73 starts) over parts of five minor-league seasons. Reed, who was on the 40-man roster, will be assigned to Triple-A New Orleans. In 2015, he combined to go 2-2 with a 5.97 ERA between Los Angeles' Double-A and Triple-A clubs. He has not made a major-league appearance.
Dayton, a 27-year-old southpaw, never reached the big leagues with the Marlins. An 11th-round selection out of Auburn in 2010, he went 20-16 with a 2.62 ERA over 210 outings (six starts).
