Mail-it-in Friday: Who is the most likeable person in the NFL?

Published May. 29, 2015 11:00 a.m. ET

Ugh, is it September yet?

I don't know about you, but the NFL offseason is getting old. The draft is done, Deflategate is so two weeks ago and the well is drying up when it comes to topics. So, we're going with another theme for this week's edition of Mail-it-in Friday, and that is:

Who is the most likeable person in the NFL?

Barry,

You're not alone, Barry. Several people weighed in with their high opinions of J.J. and I can't really argue with any of them. He seems to take his job seriously and that's to be commended.

HOWEVER, super serious people can be a drag because they have a hard time cutting loose.

"Hey, Double J, wanna check out that new bar?"

"No, I've got 2,000 pushups to bang out this evening."

"OK, want to grab some food with some friends?"

"I'm good. I don't have time for that kind of thing. I'm gonna kick back with this whey protein shake and turn in at 8."

Nice guy, but not that much fun on a Friday night, perhaps. Still, it's good that we get to see him on "Hard Knocks" this summer, because he had the coolest intro in the history of the series last year (sorry for the bad quality):

Anyone else get a chill watching that?

Shawn,

No doubt, dude. Gronk is definitely awesome, but he's the anti-Watt. While Watt needs to maybe relax and enjoy himself a bit more, Rob Gronkowski needs to take it down a notch.

Most people can relate to this, because they have someone in their crew of friends who is just like Gronk. That friend who:

1. Gets to the party and immediately starts pouring tequila shots.

2. Starts an evening with this statement: "Who is going to be the first one to throw up tonight?"

3. Will get naked at the drop of a hat. Public, private, it doesn't matter.

4. Doesn't have an inside voice.

5. Starts slapping people on the back a little too hard.

6. Somehow ends up in the DJ booth.

7. Will do this:

8. And then this at Denny's at 4 a.m.:

Williams

They're always a lot of fun, but exhausting at the same time.

That's Gronk. But still, I hope he never changes.

Jason,

Golden Tate might disagree, too. If the rumors are true, that is.

Jose,

I'm not going to debate you on this. Several people said Russell takes the top spot, and it's hard to say otherwise. He's a modest young man and seems to genuinely care about doing good in the community.

That being said, he does have a goody-two shoes thing going on. And while that's admirable, it can get . . . irritating.

Johnny,

I never thought I could become a fan of someone from just a photo. I've been proven wrong.

Gus Bradley is awesome! If he had done jazz hands in that image, I'd want him in the White House.

PackersHome,

And he's also not afraid to swear on live television:

I love that so much. I confuse Steve Wozniak, Steve Jobs and Bill Gates all the time, so I definitely would have got that one wrong. And my natural reaction to a mistake is to mutter curses under my breath.

If I ever get on "Jeopardy!" I would completely forget that I was mic'd up and the entire world would hear me whisper the F word, B word, C word, MF word and so on.

Kassandra,

Good call. Acho definitely did a nice thing for a lovely young lady. Not only did he take her to prom, he even sang for her. Check this out:

Not a bad Ed Sheeran impression, right?

There's another NFL player who also needs some serious credit. That would be Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks, who recently took a sick girl to prom.

That girl -- Khameyea Jennings -- passed away due to cancer last weekend. Kudos to Sen'Derrick for helping make her dreams come true, and our condolences to her family and loved ones.

Tyler,

Agreed. I've actually had the pleasure of meeting Pat McAfee (name drop!) and he's a pretty cool guy. And funny as hell.

Tom,

What if he became a fashion model? Would that make him a model model?

Tracy,

There are receivers around the NFL who would disagree with you.

881babdb-Kam

Kam is a really nice person off the field. He's an absolute beast on it.

Jason,

So all it takes is a willingness to sign autographs for you to be onboard? Come on, you're gonna need more than that.

Daniel,

I respect your stance. Andrew Luck must really be nice if non-fans are still giving credit. But he needs to stop growing facial hair. There are people in the world who can pull that look off. Andrew isn't one of them.

Carl,

Sorry, those Tide commercials cost him big time in my eyes.

Sir Bricks,

Bruce Arians' Kangol hats definitely push him up near the top.

Troy,

Oh . . . LORD.

Sorry, I'm going to have to end the fun now before this mailbag turns into a disgusting Tebow-fest.
