JJ Watt is single, and it is all because of football

JJ Watt is probably one of the NFL's most eligible bachelors.

Not only is he one of the league's best players, he also seems to be one of the nicest, most charitable guys off the field.

There are probably overly qualified candidates looking to take the role of significant other in Watt's life. But Watt is single and it's because of his passion for football.

In an interview with ESPN, Watt opened up about his love life, or lack thereof.

"It's not that I don't want to (have a girlfriend), it's that I haven't yet," Watt told Michelle Beisner. "I haven't been able to make it happen yet.

"I obviously would love to have a girlfriend but a girlfriend deserves so much of your time and energy," Watt said. "And she deserves to be treated like a princess because that's how you should treat your girls. And if I can't give them that time and that devotion because of my dedication to football, then I don't feel like I should almost waste their time.

"If I find the right girl and she steals my heart then it might be a different story. It's very difficult and I'm not overly optimistic about it, but I would love the opportunity."

This isn't the first time the defensive end has admitted his passion for the game interfered with a social life. Earlier in the summer, Watt responded to questions about teammates making fun of him because he was too busy for a personal life by saying, "Right now, I am a football player and I will sacrifice whatever is necessary to be the best."

He may be single now, but when Watt is ready, he is going to make one lady very lucky.
