Ingles waived by Clippers in first attempt to make NBA roster
The Los Angeles Clippers have waived forward Joe Ingles, the team announced Saturday.
The Clippers made the move in order to get down to the required 15-man roster. Doc Rivers' team finished the preseason at 2-6 and will open the season against Oklahoma City on Thursday at Staples Center.
Ingles was the only Clippers player who wasn't at the Clippers community event in South Central on Saturday. The Australian received one start in the preseason, but played sparingly over eight games. He scored six points and added five rebounds.
Ingles played in Australia and Europe and was trying to make an NBA roster for the first time in his career as a 27-year-old rookie. He was battling for the final roster spot with Jared Cunningham.
Ingles acknowledged his release Saturday afternoon on Twitter.
Thanks to the @laclippers for the chance to be here & meet some great people. Onwards and upwards...… http://t.co/qQp88efQUR

Early in the preseason, Ingles told FOX Sports West that he's received multiple offers in recent years, but he didn't feel like he was ready to come over.
" ... When these guys called it was kind of hard to say no to them," Ingles said of his opportunity with the Clippers.
Ingles likely will receive offers to play in Europe. But this won't be the last you'll see of Ingles as he is a member of the Australian National Team, where he will be playing alongside Golden State Warriors forward/center Andrew Bogut.
Pumped that @andrewbogut has committed to the @AussieBoomers for the next couple years. Exciting times ahead.. Deep team we will have!
