The Miami Dolphins added depth to their defensive by signing veteran tackle C.J. Mosley, the team announced Wednesday.

The deal is for one year and will reunite Mosley with Ndamukong Suh, who was the first free agent the Dolphins signed at the start of free agency. The two were teammates the past two seasons for the Detroit Lions and were integral members of one of the top-ranked defensive teams in the NFL last year.

Mosley joins a unit that includes Suh, Earl Mitchell, Anthony Johnson, A.J. Francis, Deandre Coleman, and this year's second-round pick, Jordan Phillips. Kamal Johnson, a practice-squad player was waived to make room for Mosley.

Mosley recorded 26 tackles and 2.5 sacks last season with the Lions over the course of 15 games and eight starts.

Prior to his time with the Lions, Mosley played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets and the Minnesota Vikings, who selected him in the sixth round of the 2005 draft.

Just how many defensive tackles the Dolphins intend to keep on the final roster is unclear, but Mosley, who will be entering his 11th season, will possibly compete with Mitchell for the starting job. Miami lost both Randy Starks and Jared Odrick in free agency after making a huge splash in free agency with the blockbuster signing of Suh.
