Former Buckeyes CB Roby denies drunken-driving allegations

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Former Ohio State cornerback Bradley Roby is tweeting that his encounter with Columbus police last weekend didn't go as it's been reported.

WBNS 10TV in Columbus reported on Thursday that Roby was charged by Columbus Police last weekend with OVI after he was allegedly found passed out behind the wheel of a car and failed a field sobriety test. A search of Franklin County Court records shows that Roby is facing an OVI charge.

But Roby tweeted Friday a strong denial to the report.

Roby also tweeted "I was not drunk," attaching a picture of the police scan that showed his blood-alcohol content was .008, or one-tenth of Ohio's legal limit.

The 21-year-old also blasted the media's reporting of the incidentl.

Roby's agent, Michael Perrett, released a statement to the ElevenWarriors.com website that said: "This past weekend my client Bradley Roby was issued a citation in Columbus, Ohio for operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI). Bradley was sitting in his parked car in a parking lot when he was approached and questioned by an officer. He was fully cooperative and willingly submitted to field sobriety and breathalyzer tests. His BAC test registered a negligible .008 and after further testing at the police station, he was very quickly released on his own recognizance. There are no other charges, and we are confident that this matter will be resolved quickly and favorably for Bradley. However, as the matter is still pending, we cannot comment further at this time."

Roby is due in court on April 29, according to Franklin County records.

Roby was arrested last summer after an alleged late-night incident at a Bloomington, Ind., bar, though those charges were later dropped -- with the condition that Roby avoid legal trouble through August 2014. So, there's a lot at stake here, and not just NFL Draft stock.

A top athlete and cornerback prospect in this year's draft, Roby has been projected since last summer as a potential first-round pick, despite what many draft experts considered an average 2013 season. Earlier this week, Roby was announced as one of the 30 players who will attend the NFL Draft in New York City.
