Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Additions August 29

Published Nov. 15, 2016 2:41 p.m. ET

If you're new to this feature, here are the ground rules.

No player in this space will be mentioned in back-to-back weeks, as we don't want to spam you with the same choices over and over again. We'll also limit the waiver wire suggestions to players owned in fewer than 40 percent of FOXSports.com leagues. Got it? Let's get to this week's pickups:

Catcher

Evan Gattis, HOU (37% owned)

He started off the year injured and took a while to round into form, but Gattis is mashing once again. Over his last 30 days, Gattis is slashing .337/.394/.547. It’s hard to find this kind of power at catcher, and Gattis has been getting more starts at that spot lately. Grab him if you need some HR and RBI.

First Baseman

Brandon Moss, STL (40% owned)

Moss has quietly been one of the better power hitting corner infielders in baseball this year, slugging 25 home runs in just 314 at-bats. Moss has big time power and he’s hitting .295 over his last 30 days as well. With dual 1B/OF eligibility, he should find a spot on your bench, if nothing else.

Second Baseman

Ryan Schimpf, SD (3.8% owned)

He’s way under-owned because he plays for the Padres, but Schimpf has a lot of pop in his bat. Over his last 30 days, the rookie 2B/3B is slashing .262/.388/.655, bringing his total on the year to 16 HR in just 186 at-bats. That’s unreal power at the second base position, and he’s available in all but the deepest leagues. Hop on board now.

Third Baseman

Hernan Perez, MIL (35.6% owned)

Players with dual IF/OF eligibility who offer up both speed and power are a rare breed, but Milwaukee appears to have one of those guys in Perez. He’s up to 26 stolen bases on the year now, and he’s slugging .557 over his last 30 days. That’s a combo that can’t be passed up.

Shortstop

Alex Bregman, HOU (29.1% owned)

Bregman started out his rookie campaign rather slowly, but he’s seeing the ball much better after a few weeks to get comfortable. Bregman is slashing .353/.411/.725 over his last 12 games, and we know how tough it is to find offensive production from middle infielders. He’s holding down a spot in one of the league’s most dangerous offenses, which makes him worthy of an add.

Outfield

David Dahl, COL (32.2% owned)

The Rockies rookie has locked down an everyday job, and he’s still putting up big numbers. On the year he’s slashing .325/.370/.548 and has pinched in with a little power and speed thus far. More importantly, he has the Coors Field factor working in his favor.

Starting Pitcher

Matt Boyd, DET (33.2% owned)

The Tigers southpaw has been highly effective as of late, picking up three wins in his last four starts while striking out nearly a batter an inning. Boyd has a 2.52 ERA over his last five games and has a regular spot in Detroit’s rotation the rest of the way.

Relief Pitcher

Brandon Kintzler, MIN (19% owned)

The Twins closer has been lights out this season with a 1.73 ERA and 0.96 WHIP and 12 saves in 13 chances. Although he may not rack up tons of saves due to the team he plays for, he’s been incredibly effective whenever he gets in the game.
