Drew Brees' Saints teammates find him 'annoyingly optimistic'

Doesn't this make sense?

Drew Brees seems like he's an upbeat guy. After all, he's the quarterback of the New Orleans Saints and despite his team's underachieving 4-5 record, is still sitting in first place in the NFC South. But sometimes, being upbeat can get old.

"I am annoyingly optimistic and confident, I've been told many times by teammates," Brees told ESPN. "And so, you know what? I'm gonna come right back out the next series, and if that throw's there, you be darn sure it's getting thrown."

Can't you see how annoying that can get? The man uses the word "darn," for crying out loud. But don't think Brees isn't self-aware, as he isn't having a typical "Drew Brees" season with his 10 interceptions through nine games.

"There's nobody who's harder on themselves than me when some of those things happen where, 'Man, I know better. I can't let that happen, it's my job,'" Brees said. "I have that responsibility. And I also feel like I have the ability to bounce back from that. That is also my mentality."

We've seen him bounce back from tough situations, like when he couldn't fit through the gate in this ESPN commercial.

Or when he suddenly found himself on the video board at a recent New Orleans Pelicans game:

Or, when he faced a difficult job interview:

Do your thing, Drew. We know you're good.
