DraftKings MLB Picks: Top Bargain plays for September 12th

Finding value is the ever so elusive, “Holy Grail” in Fantasy Baseball.  Making cap room for pitchers and big bats can make all the difference in a lineup. With a little elbow grease in the research department, I’m hoping to offer a handful of players that could give critical salary relief for tonight’s DraftKings MLB picks.

I’m not going to lie, it tough to keep grinding MLB after week one of the NFL, but we have a full 15 games to start the week. The Red Soxs have the highest team projection on the slate, at 5.7 runs. The next highest team would be Washington (5.2), and Toronto (5.1). I think tonight’s contests could be more profitable than normal, as new players that were attracted to play NFL DFS may take a crack at MLB. I won’t be extending my bankroll too much, but there should an added edge tonight. Here are my recommended bargain players for tonight.

Guillermo Heredia – SEA (OF) – $2500

Seattle has a moderate projection of 4.4 runs, but Guillermo Heredia is ridiculously cheap for a guy that could be leading off tonight. Heredia is a switch hitter who fares better against righties, where he holds a .325 wOBA split. If you like Heredia tonight, get exposure to him on DraftKings, as he’s much more expensive on Fanduel.

Raimel Tapia – COL (OF) – $2700

Raimel Tapia is another young lead off hitter that is below the $3000 price point. Tapia will face the righty, Shelby Miller. Most of his value will come from batting first, and the Rockies projection of 5 runs.

    Seth Smith – SEA (OF) – $3400

Seth Smith‘s lack of power will generally keep his price down, but when he’s facing a righty, he makes for a good bet to get on base. Smith is much better against righties, where he holds a .352 wOBA split.

    Cameron Maybin – DET (OF) – $3500

Detroit is currently projected to score 4.9 runs, and Cameron Maybin could be a beneficiary if he’s batting second. Maybin has neutral splits against righties and also provides some stolen base upside.

    Paulo Orlando – KC (OF) – $3500

Kansas City is projected to put up close to 5 runs tonight on Oakland, and Paul Orlando will be under priced if he’s batting second for the Royals. Orlando will face the lefty, Ross Detwiler, where he holds a .353 wOBA split.

    Devon Travis – TOR (2B) – $3800

Devon Travis is one of my favorite plays on the slate. Given Toronto’s projection, Travis will draw a good match up against the righty, Jake Odorizzi. Travis has reverse splits against righties, where he holds a .373 wOBA and a .193 ISO split.

    Sandy Leon – BOS (C) – $3600

Sandy Leon will make a great play at the catcher position, but may come at the price of inflated ownership. Leon will face a lefty, where he holds a .433 wOBA split and a .229 ISO split. Leon provides the best power upside for a price under $4,000.

Note: Keep in mind that recommended DraftKings MLB picks are based off of early information and will be subject  to change as lineups are released. Some cheaper players are more suspect to be scratched from the lineup or bumped down the lineup order.
