Cardinals begin construction on indoor practice facility

Updated Oct. 27, 2022 1:06 p.m. ET

The Cardinals have begun construction on an air-conditioned indoor practice facility at their team's Tempe headquarters, according the the Arizona Republic.

The 78,000-square foot facility has a $4.2 million price tag, according to the Republic, which is being paid in its entirety by the team.

The facility would not be accessible to fans and is not expected to be used for the team's summer training camp; its primary purpose will be for practices during the hotter portions of the season.

Location for the team's preseason camp remains in question. The team will not return to its long-time preseason home at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff.

The most likely alternative is University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.
