Browns extra points: Talking dance moves, Gabriel's standout game

Extra Points from Sunday's win over Tennessee:

Commit to Run: The Browns didn't back off from the running game even when they were down 28-3 and Hoyer said that helped in the comeback win.

"We weren't in panic mode," Hoyer said. "You realize there is a lot of time left and we used that to our advantage. (Offensive coordinator) Kyle (Shanahan) did a good job of not abandoning the (run) and use it to our advantage."

The Browns rushed for 175 yards with RB Ben Tate having his best game of his career with 22 yards for 123 yards (5.6 avg.). RB Terrance West had 31 yards on seven carries and RB Isaiah Crowell had 19 yards on six carries. As a team, the Browns averaged 4.9 yards per carry.

Tate gave much of the credit to the offensive line for his production.

"I don't want to talk about me," Tate said. "The whole team and offensive line played great."

Bust a Move: DL Phil Taylor posted a video of QB Brian Hoyer and OL Joe Thomas dancing in the locker room after the Browns historic comeback win over the Titans.

Pettine said he enjoyed watching the guys having fun and made sure he stayed out of the way of the camera.

"It was fun to watch," Pettine said.

Hoyer was asked to assess Thomas' dancing.

"It wasn't as smooth as mine."

RB Ben Tate disagreed with Hoyer's assessment when he was asked his thoughts of the duos dancing prowess.

"There's hope for Joe, but I don't know about Brian."

Hoyer said after losing last season to an ACL injury, he's trying to enjoy every moment he can.

"With what I went through the last year, I want to enjoy it," he said. "You never know when it could be taken away from you.

"You talk about the dance scene but you see us in the locker room and that just brings us closer together," he said. "You know the 53 guys fought their butts off to accomplish something that has never been done in NFL history before. Its definitely something special."

Injury Update: Pettine had no updated information on DL Phil Taylor who left and did not return with a knee injury. Taylor only played 9 plays before leaving. DB Joe Haden had a hip injury on a series, but returned to the game and played all 68 defensive plays.

Best Game for Gabriel: Rookie WR Taylor Gabriel had his best NFL game in his young career with four receptions for 95 yards, including a 49-yard catch.

"Throughout the week we worked hard on cleaning up our routes and the timing," Gabriel said.  Me and Brian are having a good chemistry."

Gabriel said the receivers have been working hard to make plays.

"Everybody wants to win and if your number is called you have to be ready to make a play."

Road Warriors: The Browns were just 1-7 on the road last season and evened their record at 1-1 on the road against the Titans.

"It just shows the mental toughness that we're trying to instill here," Pettine said.

Defensive Woes: Pettine said the defense still is a work in process after giving up 28 points in the first half to the Titans.

"It's still little things," he said. "All those little things adding up determine if we're successful. We're not going to get good until we clean those things up."

Oh Johnny: QB Johnny Manziel was caught on camera laughing when the Browns were down 28-3.

However, Pettine wasn't upset about the incident.

"I don't know the context," Pettine said. "The way we were playing you could determine (it was) laughable. It's a lesson to learn but don't consider it a big deal."Confidence in Gilbert: No. 1 draft pick CB Justin Gilbert played just nine plays (13%) of the defensive snaps, compared to undrafted rookie free agent CB K'Waun Williams, who played 36 plays (53 %).

"We're not giving up on Justin," Pettine said "He just needs to practice better."

Game Balls: Pettine said game balls were awarded to RB Ben Tate, QB Brian Hoyer, WR Travis Benjamin, DL Armonty Bryant, DB K'Waun Williams, DL Ahtyba Rubin, LB Tank Carder and the entire offensive line.

Jurevicius Visits: Former Browns WR Joe Jurevicius visited the Browns locker room on Monday.
