Are the Saints bringing back Reggie Bush?
Reggie Bush hasn't quite lived up to NFL expectations. Though, winning a Heisman does increase said expectations.
Reggie Bush was drafted second overall in 2006 by the New Orleans Saints and was traded in 2011 to the Miami Dolphins. He signed with the Detroit Lions in 2013 and was released in February.
Now a free agent, his career might come full circle, Jason La Confora of CBS Sports reports. According to a tweet he sent out Friday, Sean Payton is 'high' on bringing back Reggie Bush.
And it may not be too far fetched to think Bush could return to NoLa. He still speaks highly of the city that drafted him. "It was an amazing five years," he told FOX Sports Southwest reporter Jennifer Hale in October. "I had so much fun. The city was great to me. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for New Orleans. I have nothing but great memories from my time in New Orleans: all of the friends I made -ÂÂ they're special people. I have a love for New Orleans and always will."
While Payton may want to bring back Bush, the odds may not to be in his favor. La Confora also mentioned that the Saints are hopeful they may bring back Mark Ingram who will be a free agent Tuesday.
Speaking with Hale at a Pelicans-Mavericks game Tuesday, Coach Payton expressed interest in keeping Ingram. "I spoke with Mark [Tuesday]," he said. "The good thing about Mark is that we're very close with his agent. Mickey (Loomis, the Saints general manager) will talk with him quite a bit. Obviously Mark is someone that we want to keep. Hopefully we can do that."
The Saints did release veteran Pierre Thomas, so that could be an opening for Bush, but according to NFL.com analyst Curtis Conway, a different USC Trojan may be making his way down to New Orleans in the form of draft pick Javorius Allen.
The Saints finished the 2014 season at 7-9.
