Former NHLer Wojtek Wolski in intensive care following scary crash into boards
Former NHL forward Wojtek Wolski is in intensive care following a terrifying crash into the boards during a KHL game this week.
On Thursday, the Metallurg Magnitogorsk winger slid head-first into the boards while pursuing a loose puck during the third period. The collision (below) was awkward and frightening and is very difficult to watch.
Wolski had to be stretchered off the ice and taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. According to the team, he was diagnosed with a “fracture of the seventh and fourth cervical vertebrae of the cervical spinal cord, brain concussion, bruises and abrasions on the face.”
The 30-year-old remains in intensive care and is unlikely to play hockey again this season. Despite the incident, he appears to be staying positive.
Thank you to everyone that reached out.I greatly appreciate it and feel lucky to have such amazing friends and family.#ThankGOD
