Bruins C Marc Savard returns to ice for practice
Boston Bruins center Marc Savard, out because of post-concussion symptoms, returned to the ice Saturday after being medically cleared to practice.
He joined his teammates for the morning skate before the Bruins hosted the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday night.
''It felt unbelievable,'' Savard said. ''You know it's been a long time. You know it's pretty special to be ... to make this step and, hopefully, gradually get better and go from there.''
Savard, who sustained a concussion on March 7 when he was his from behind by Pittsburgh's Matt Cooke, was sidelined until the second-round playoff series against Philadelphia. He then missed all of training camp before this season because of post-concussion symptoms.
Savard, one of the Bruins' top playmakers, had 25 goals and 63 assists two seasons ago. He posted 10 goals and 23 assists last season when he was limited to 41 games.
Savard also commented Saturday about e-mails sent by NHL disciplinarian Colin Campbell three years ago to former director of officiating Stephen Walkom, which became public last year as part of a court case involving former referee Dean Warren.
In one e-mail, Campbell referred to Savard - who played for him when he coached the New York Rangers - as a ''little fake artist.''
''I have nothing against Colie,'' Savard said. ''I think that stuff was private stuff, and I think that stuff that he was saying got interpreted, I think, in a bad way.''
The e-mails gained new attention on Monday after they were republished by Tyler Dellow of mc79hockey.com.
