Steve Smith drops some serious smack talk on Eagles rookie

Steve Smith, the brazenly notorious trash talker that he is, dropped some serious, scatalogical smack on rookie cornerback Eric Rowe during a joint practice on Wednesday between the Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles.

With the Ravens and Eagles in the midst of several days of joint practices, Smith was his usual mouthy self. Rowe, a fan of the wide receiver who like Smith played his college ball at the University of Utah, was on the receiving end of Smith's patented gamesmanship.

As the two lined up across from one another, Rowe said Smith tried to get in his head, but the young corner insisted he wasn’t fazed by it.

“He told me to get my feet right,” Rowe recollected, per Philly.com’s Jeff McLane. “And then when I broke up the pass, he was like, ‘I saw in your eyes, it looked like you [soiled] yourself,’ ” Rowe said. “And I was like, ‘No, man, I don’t panic out here.’ I expected that coming from him, but I just laughed.”

Reports indicate that Rowe gave a good accounting of his coverage skills on more than one occasion when facing Smith, including breaking up a potential touchdown pass from Joe Flacco to Smith in the end zone.

“Yeah, I broke that up,” Rowe said, smiling, via NJ.com. “I ripped that right out.”

Smith and Rowe apparently were jawing quite a bit, both before, during and after plays, something the rookie cornerback acknowledged goes with the territory when facing Smith.

“Oh, he talks a lot of trash,” he said. “I just kind of ignore it and laugh.”

Easier said than done, to be sure. Just ask the Cleveland Browns blogger who was on the receiving end of some serious social media smack talkthe other day courtesy of the fiery wide receiver.

Thankfully, though, things didn’t escalate beyond a bit of sporting jawing between Smith and Rowe. Although had something gone down, it’s good to know Tim Tebowwho proved on Wednesday he can break up a fight if needed, was around somewhere.
