Saffold back on practice field for Rams

Published Oct. 16, 2013 7:35 p.m. ET

St. Louis Rams offensive tackle Rodger Saffold has returned to practice after missing a month with a knee injury.

Coach Jeff Fisher says Saffold was a full participant Wednesday as the Rams (3-3) prepare for Sunday's game at Carolina. Joe Barksdale has been effective in Saffold's absence.

Saffold says he got limited work and wasn't sure about his status for this week. He injured his left knee in the opener against Arizona.

Running back Zac Stacy, who's taken over as the starter, was held out with a chest injury. Defensive end Chris Long (thigh), cornerback Cortland Finnegan (thigh) and running back Benny Cunningham (ankle) also were held out.

Cunningham's lower left leg was in a cast and he wheeled around the locker room.

Linebacker Daren Bates, who scored a touchdown off a fumble on a kickoff return at Houston, was limited with a hip injury.
