Lions QB Culpepper leaves with hamstring injury

Published Oct. 18, 2009 8:13 p.m. ET

Daunte Culpepper left with a right hamstring injury Sunday during Detroit's first possession of the third quarter against the Green Bay Packers after coming up limping on a 5-yard scramble. Culpepper avoided pressure and ran toward the sideline, but began to limp just before he went out of bounds. He was not hit on the play. Culpepper took one more snap, handing off to Kevin Smith for a 1-yard gain before leaving in favor of Drew Stanton. The team said Culpepper's return was questionable. Rookie No. 1 draft pick Matthew Stafford, who hurt his knee two weeks ago against Chicago, was the emergency quarterback Sunday. Culpepper was 6 of 14 for 48 yards and an interception while being sacked twice.
