Dallas Cowboys to Play Randy Gregory This Week
Randy Gregory will return to the Dallas Cowboys for the Detroit Lions on Sunday!
The Dallas Cowboys saw defensive end Randy Gregory coming from the beginning. He failed a drug test for marijuana at the NFL Scouting Combine, before he even got in the NFL. Then he went on to fail (at least) three drug test since he’s been in the NFL.
So the defensive end hasn’t been on the field at all this year, suspended a total of 14 games. But the Cowboys have hung in there with their 2015 second-round pick all this time. And it will pay off for now as he’s eligible to return to practice this week.
From what owner Jerry Jones said during an appearance on 105.3 The Fan Tuesday, Gregory will play. Jones went as far as saying Gregory will “absolutely” play in the last two games. Cowboys fans know that what Jones says goes so there you have it.
Jones also said, “We want him. We need him.”
Defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli has made this defense work no matter who’s in the lineup. The Cowboys have had an average pass-rush so far this year. Fellow DE DeMarcus Lawrence has only played in nine games this year due to suspension and injuries.
Lawrence is hoping to return this week so the team have all hands on deck now. They already have the NFL’s best run defense these days. And getting their two edge-rushers back will be a big boost to their No. 28-ranked pass defense.
So provided there are no more failed drug tests involved, the Cowboys are set to finish strong!
And we’ll see what that means soon enough!
