Will James Borrego return to Spurs as assistant coach?
When Spurs assistant coach Jim Boylen left San Antonio to take a position with the Chicago Bulls earlier this week, it opened up a potential spot on Gregg Popovich's bench. How will the team replace Boylen? Will they bring in someone from the outside or promote from within?
ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that former Orlando Magic assistant and interim head coach James Borrego could return to the organization where he was an assistant for seven seasons.
Shocker: This would be a pretty smart move by the Spurs. They bring back a familiar face who's had moderate success as an assistant in Orlando and with the New Orleans Pelicans. (Borrego was a Spurs assistant from 2003 to 2010.)
Nothing is official yet, but hiring Borrego would be mutually beneficial for all parties involved.
