What to expect from Kyle Anderson's sophomore season

Published Jun. 8, 2015 11:06 a.m. ET

Kyle Anderson didn't do much in his rookie season. The 21-year-old averaged 2.2 points per game and only appeared in 33 contests for the San Antonio Spurs. But in 26 D-League games he was a monster, averaging 21.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.

San Antonio's 2014 first-round pick appears to have a healthy professional future. Here's more on Anderson's development, via SB Nation's Spurs blog Pounding the Rock:

"It's rare to find good, young ball-handlers who also have a decent post game but Anderson is one of those privileged few that come out of college with a bevy of offensive tools. Whenever a smaller player is on him, Anderson is so long that he can finish over the outstretched arms of the defender. He doesn't score as often as you'd want but can find open teammates if the opponent overhelps on defense and draws fouls at a decent clip."

Anderson's career will be long and productive if he can become a mismatch nightmare. He appears to have all the tools down low, and is a tremendous passer, which allows the Spurs to play him at more than one position.

It looks like Anderson is ready to bloom.
