Warriors' Green predicts Nike signature shoe, but odds aren't strong

With Kobe Bryant retiring from the NBA, there's a potential opening for a new player to earn a signature shoe deal from Nike. Golden State's Draymond Green says he'd be a perfect fit.
Warriors stars Stephen Curry (Under Armour) and Klay Thompson (Anta) are both signed to shoe deals away from the Nike brand, but Green wears the iconic Swoosh and currently hoops in LeBron's shoes because they're comfortable. Green spoke with a few reporters about the possibility of a custom shoe next season during All-Star Weekend in Toronto, via Complex.
"I hope so. I think that would be great. But that's on Nike.
If the timing is right, it's possible."
While a player's edition signature shoe would give Nike the opportunity to be more closely affiliated with the red-hot Warriors, the deal seems far-fetched. According to Yahoo! Sports, there are only 10 players that have a signature shoe deal with an American-based brand. All would likely be considered bona fide superstars regardless of what team they played for; none are big men like Green.
"They're comfortable, man."

Those players include: LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving (Nike); Russell Westbrook and Carmelo Anthony (Air Jordan); Derrick Rose and Damian Lillard with James Harden launching in 2017 (Adidas); and Curry (Under Armour). Thompson, Dwyane Wade and Tony Parker have their own Chinese-based signature shoes as well.
More likely, Green would get a deal similar to the one Anthony Davis and Paul George have with Nike. That means he'd probably get his own special edition version of a lower-end Nike shoe with special logo branding, but not an actual signature model.
