Twitter reacts to LeBron James' banked in 3 vs. Wizards

Twitter had plenty to say about LeBron James’ game-tying shot to force overtime Monday night against the Washington Wizards.

With 0.3 seconds left in regulation, LeBron James hoisted up a fadeaway 3-point attempt after a fullcourt heave from teammate Kevin Love.

The shot slammed against the backboard before falling through the net to send the Cleveland Cavaliers’ game against the Washington Wizards into overtime. It was a nice redemption shot for James, who missed a layup just moments earlier. Twitter, as usual, had plenty of fun with the shot.

Skip Bayless had his doubts about James’ intentions:

Some viewed it as his cross-sport response to Tom Brady’s historic comeback in the Super Bowl:

While others could only fawn at the greatness:

Not everyone appreciated the shot, though:

Especially Washington’s Bradley Beal, who stood stunned before offering a little smirk after the shot went in:

James ultimately fouled out in the overtime period. He finished with 32 points, 17 assists and seven rebounds. So much for needing another playermaker, eh Lebron? The Cavaliers rallied without James as Kyrie Irving hit a go-ahead 3-pointer in overtime to help them emerge with a 140-135 win in the nation’s capitol.

The matchup was a preview of a potential Eastern Conference Finals and had the feel of a playoff game in early February. Despite 41 points from Beal, 25 from Otto Porter and 22 from John Wall, Cleveland was simply too much.

The Cavaliers are the defending NBA champions, but if LeBron James is banking in 3-pointers, there’s not much anything anybody in the East can do to stop them.  Let’s just make sure Twitter is around to react the next time it happens.
