Stevens: 'Bad voting' put me ahead of Popovich

The NBA's Coach of the Year results were released yesterday, and Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens finished ahead of San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich.

Not that this annual award has anything to do with postseason success, or accomplishments made throughout entire careers, but Stevens has yet to win a playoff game while Popovich is one of the best coaches in NBA history.

According to MassLive's Jay King, here's what Stevens had to say after learning he finished ahead of a legend:

"'That's bad voting,' said Stevens, humble as always before dropping Game 2 of a first-round series with the Cleveland Cavaliers. It's very nice when you're talked about (for) stuff like that, and I don't want to diminish how honored you are to be in that discussion," Stevens said. "But other than that, eh. I'm not big on postseason (awards).'"

Stevens may be the youngest coach in the league, but these sage words sound like they came from a certain five-time champion.
