Should Washington Wizards hire David Blatt?
The Washington Wizards are having a tough season. They've dealt with injuries, systemic failure and all the drama that comes with losing.
It's not fair to blame head coach Randy Wittman for all their troubles, but it's also very difficult to envision him ever leading them to a championship. Enter: David Blatt. Here's more, courtesy of Rant Sports:
Coming into the season, Washington was supposed to be the team that would compete with Cleveland for the Eastern Conference title, but with a 20-21 record that is good enough for the 10th best record in the East, even playoffs are in question right now. Wittman’s style of small-ball has not worked, which he seems to have finally realized now that Marcin Gortat and Nene are starting together in the frontcourt. Wittman may have done this right before it was too late, because had they lost to Miami and Blatt been put on the market right after, it would not be a surprise to see Blatt already with Washington.
The former head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers has won over twice as many games as he's lost in his all-too-short NBA career, and already has D.C. connections!
More importantly, he knows what he's doing, and has won championships all over the globe. Blatt's offensive creativity was stifled by LeBron James, but he brought out the best his team could offer on defense, where Cleveland maximized its potential this season.
It feels like Blatt will have success wherever he goes next, and the Wizards would be wise to let him be their leader.
