San Antonio's offense is struggling

Published Apr. 27, 2015 4:53 p.m. ET

The San Antonio Spurs have one of the most effective offenses in the league. They finished the regular season with the sixth-most accurate three-point field goal percentage and the third highest overall field goal percentage.

After 82 games, only six teams finished with a higher offensive rating. But the playoffs have been a different story. Here's more from Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times:

"San Antonio has been betrayed by its shooting in both losses to the Clippers in the Western Conference first-round playoff series. The Spurs made only 44% of their shots in the Game 4 loss, and just 24% (six for 25) of their three-pointers. They shot only 36.6% from the field in the Game 1 loss, including 30.3% (10 for 33) from long range."

Even with stout defense and superstar play from Kawhi Leonard, the Spurs won't win this series unless they hit shots. It's a make-or-miss league.
