Report: Wizards' Beal might return this weekend

The Washington Wizards have finally received some good news! Bradley Beal, who's missed 16 straight games with a leg injury, is expected to return over the weekend.

This is definite cause for celebration for a team that's struggled on both ends of the floor all year long.

Washington Wizards guard Bradley Beal, sidelined since Dec. 11 because of a stress reaction in his right fibula, said Monday that he hopes to return either Friday against the Indiana Pacers or Saturday against the Boston Celtics. Beal joined the Wizards on their two-game road trip to Orlando and Chicago to rev up his workload and said he could begin contact activity Tuesday when the Wizards return to Washington. “Maybe tomorrow when we get back,” Beal said as he walked off the United Center floor after Washington’s shoot-around Monday morning.

Beal was averaging 19.8 points per game and making 38.9 percent of his threes before the injury. He played a ton, too, and had nights where he was Washington's best player.

Even though his on-off splits aren't particularly pleasant, there's no doubt that Beal's return will stabilize the Wizards' rotation and provide even more spacing on offense.

It's very good news coming off a big win in Chicago.
