Report: Utah's Rudy Gobert upgraded to questionable vs. Rockets

Published Jan. 7, 2016 1:47 p.m. ET

Jazz center Rudy Gobert has played in just 14 of Utah's 34 games during the 2015-16 season. His return, however, may be on the horizon.

Gobert suffered an ankle injury in early November against Cleveland. He returned but battled through more injury troubles with a tailbone contusion and, eventually, a Grade II MCL sprain that sidelined him indefinitely. Gobert has not played Nov. 30. The Jazz are 7-11 without Gobert.

"We can definitely use him right now," Jazz forward Trevor Booker told the Salt Lake Tribune last week. "He's a big part of our team. As soon as he gets back, the better it is for us."

According to Salt Lake Tribune's Aaron Falk, his return might come very soon. Falk reports the Jazz upgraded Gobert to "questionable" before Utah's game against the Rockets Thursday. Even if he doesn't play against Houston, his return is imminent.

Before his injury, Gobert averaged 9.2 points with 10.9 rebounds and a whopping 2.6 blocks per game over 34.2 minutes. He shot .560 from the floor and added 0.9 steals per game.
