Report: Rockets are interested in signing Amar'e Stoudemire
The Houston Rockets appear to be all but out of the running for just about every All-Star caliber free agent still available. But that doesn't mean general manager Daryl Morey will stay quiet.
The Rockets still have a few mechanisms to sign a helpful player, and one of them may be Amar'e Stoudemire, who played pretty well in 23 games with the Dallas Mavericks last season.
The 13-year veteran averaged an efficient 10.8 points per game, but supplied typically poor defense that restricted lineup combinations the Mavericks were able to play.
In Houston, Stoudemire can conceivably replace Josh Smith as their first big off the bench. But paying anything more than a veteran's minimum contract would be a mistake.
Houston, Dallas, Clippers, Phoenix among those who've registered some degree of interest in @Amareisreal as back-up big, sources say
