Report: NBA cancels more games

Published Nov. 15, 2011 12:00 a.m. ET

The NBA informed teams Tuesday that games had been canceled through Dec. 15, Yahoo! Sports reported.

The report comes as little surprise following the players union's rejection of the owners' latest proposal for a new collective bargaining agreement on Monday.

Players Association executive director Billy Hunter said Monday the players had approved disbanding the union in order to file an antitrust lawsuit against the league, kicking off what is expected to be a lengthy court battle.

NBA commissioner David Stern, who had said the latest proposal was the owners' final offer, called the union's decision "irresponsible," adding that Hunter "has decided to put the season in jeopardy and deprive his players of an enormous payday."

Stern previously cut all of November's games in two stages as talks continued to break down.
