Report: Knicks sign Giannis 'Greek Freak' Antetokounmpo's brother
They say the best things come in small packages. Well, Giannis Antetokounmpo's brother, Thanasis, is experiencing the NBA equivalent of that principle.
Via ESPN's Ian Begley:
The New York Knicks will sign forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo to a 10-day contract, league sources confirmed to ESPN.
The Knicks selected Antetokounmpo with the 51st overall pick back in the 2014 draft. Ever since, there's been a whole bunch of buzz surrounding the 23-year-old, but there's never actually been anything to show for it.
The Knicks invited him to training camp this past year after a season playing for New York's D-League team, the Westchester Knicks, but it didn't work out and the orange and blue cut him from the roster before the season began. He's spent this season playing for the Westchester Knicks once again.
The Knicks sit at 22-26. They next play on the second night of a back-to-back, hosting the Suns on Friday. Now, though, the uber-athletic Antetokounmpo finally has his shot, though on a 10-day deal, it's unlikely he'll actually garner more than just a few minutes here and there.
