Report: Andrew Harrison will be in the D-League this year

Published Sep. 28, 2015 4:19 p.m. ET

The Thunder started a trend of sending draft picks straight to the D-League last year. Apparently, the Grizzlies have now followed.

From Chris Herrington of the Memphis Commercial Appeal:

The difference between Harrison and Huesis, of course, is that the Thunder selected Huestis in the first round of the 2014 NBA draft. Harrison, meanwhile, was a mid-second-round pick, going 44th to the Grizzlies back in June.

Being a non-roster D-League means that Harrison will spend the entirety of the season playing in the NBDL playing for the Grizzlies affiliate, the Iowa Energy. This delays his NBA free agency clock by one year.

Harrison averaged 9.3 points and 3.6 assists per game as a sophomore at Kentucky last year.
